Emergency Exam

Emergency exams are required by people that are experiencing severe pain, who have an infection, who have had an accident, or who notice something new in their mouth that requires immediate attention.

An emergency exam consist of diagnostic radiographs (x-rays), intra-oral pictures, and a focused exam on the problem area.

Once the problem has been fixed, patients are invited to return and have a comprehensive exam in order to uncover and prevent any potentially dangerous conditions that could lead to more pain and expensive treatment.

What to expect from an emergency exam

  • A registered dental assistant will take a series of x-rays and intra-oral pictures for a closer view of your teeth.
  • A licensed doctor will evaluate your oral hygiene and will go over your overall health. She/he will discuss if you have any medical conditions that may interfere with your emergency visit. She/ He will ask several questions about the medications that you might be taking, or if you have to start taking medication prior to your dental treatment.
  • The dentist will have several methods that she/he will use to find the cause of your condition, and treatment options will be explained.
  • A treatment coordinator will discuss with you schedules, fees, discounts and payment plans (if applicable).
